Smart is gearing up to make a major leap in the global automotive markets by launching its first-ever liftback sedan, named the #6 EHD, on June 11. This official launch follows the tremendous success and strong reception of the car's pre-orders during the 2026 Beijing Auto Show.
The new vehicle represents a strategic milestone for the Smart brand since its restructuring into a 50:50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely. The #6 is the brand's first model under the Geely era to launch exclusively with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, joining its updated lineup that includes the #1, #3, and #5 electric and hybrid SUVs.
Exterior Design and Premium Cabin
- Visual Identity: The car adopts Smart's latest modern design language, featuring a unified front fascia and an optional active rear spoiler.
- Smart Cabin: It boasts an advanced dual-screen infotainment system, which originally debuted in the #5 SUV.
- Premium Audio: The cabin is equipped with a high-end Sennheiser audio system with a 7.1.4 immersive layout, delivering a powerful output of 2,000 watts.
Robust Performance and Powertrain
The #6 EHD relies on a highly advanced hybrid powertrain that blends efficiency with high performance:
- Engine: A 1.5-liter turbocharged PHEV engine producing 161 hp (120 kW).
- Electric Motor: An electric motor generating 268 hp (200 kW).
- Total Output: The system delivers a combined power of 429 hp (320 kW), paired with a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and front-wheel drive (FWD).
- Acceleration: The vehicle sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, maintaining its performance even at low battery levels.
Battery, Range, and Fuel Consumption
Smart offers two LFP battery options to cater to different driving needs:
- First Option (SVOLT): A 20 kWh battery capacity providing a pure electric range of 135 km.
- Second Option (CATL): A 41 kWh battery capacity offering a pure electric range of up to 285 km.
- Comprehensive Range: With a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery, the car can cover an impressive total distance of up to 1,810 km.
- Fuel Economy: According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), fuel consumption with a depleted battery ranges between 4.75 and 4.79 liters per 100 km.
Chassis and Engineering Dimensions
The vehicle received extensive chassis and suspension tuning by Mercedes-Benz engineers, making Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) available to ensure the highest levels of comfort and stability.
