Tatsuya Tada, the Toyota 86 chief engineer, has recently spoken
with our colleagues form CarAdvice. According to the Japanese official,
Toyota is considering a new rear-wheel drive model. He will be smaller
than the GT86 and will be a sport model.
But, Tada is upset because the board didn't give the green light neither to the entry level or the Supra successor.
The
upcoming entry-level model will ride on a new all rear wheel drive and
it will also be co-developed with another manufacturer (like he did with
the GT86).
"The company has learnt a lot from [the] 86 project and Toyota has much
experience in terms of technology and development in the way we develop
vehicles efficiently and cost effectively", said Tatsuya Tada in the
interview for CarAdvice.
